Types of Breast Implants with Dr. Çağrı Sade
Choosing the right implant for natural, balanced results
The type of silicone implant used in breast augmentation is not “one size fits all.” At Dr. Çağrı Sade’s clinic in Istanbul, implant selection is tailored to the patient’s body, existing breast tissue, and desired outcome.
Implants differ in several ways:
- By shape:
- Round
- Drop (anatomic / teardrop)
- By surface:
- Smooth surface
- Textured surface
- By height (projection):
- Low profile
- Moderate profile
- High-profile
- Very high profile
- By content:
- Cohesive silicone gel implants
- Saline solution–filled prostheses
Each of these features influences how the breast will look and feel after surgery. The right combination is chosen after a detailed examination and discussion with Dr. Çağrı Sade.
Round vs anatomic (drop) implants
Round implants
Round prostheses are often preferred for breasts that are more hollow at the top or for patients who specifically want more upper pole fullness.
They are suitable when:
- The upper part of the breast looks empty or deflated
- A fuller, rounder upper appearance is desired
- There is enough tissue to cover the implant smoothly
In patients with sufficient breast tissue, round implants can nicely enhance the middle and upper part of the breast, giving a fuller but still natural shape when chosen in the right size and profile.
Drop (anatomic/teardrop) implants
For patients with little breast tissue, drop-shaped (anatomic) implants are often a very good option. These implants are
- Thinner at the top and fuller at the bottom
- Designed to mimic the natural slope of the breast
- Ideal for creating a soft angle from the chest wall to the breast
Drop-shaped implants can provide a more natural, anatomical look, especially in slimmer patients or in those starting with very small breasts.
Surface, projection, and content
Surface structure
- Smooth implants can move more freely within the pocket and may be preferred in certain placements.
- Textured implants were designed to reduce movement and rotation, particularly important in some anatomic implants.
The choice of surface depends on implant type, placement technique, and patient-specific factors that Dr. Cagri Sade evaluates during consultation.
Projection (profile)
Implants come in different heights/profiles: low, moderate, high, and very high. This affects how far the breast projects forward from the chest:
- Low profile: Wider base, softer projection
- Moderate profile: Balanced width and projection, often used for natural results
- High & very high profile: Narrower base with more projection, used in selected cases or for specific chest shapes
Choosing the right profile is crucial for achieving a result that looks proportionate and harmonious with the patient’s shoulder width, chest, and waist.
Content
- Cohesive silicone gel implants are the most commonly used today, offering a natural feel and stable shape.
- Saline-filled implants contain a salt-water solution and are an alternative in selected cases.
The majority of modern breast augmentations at Dr. Cagri Sade’s clinic in Istanbul are performed using cohesive gel implants, due to their natural softness and shape stability.
How Dr. Çağrı Sade chooses the right implant
Implant selection is not based only on cup size. Dr. Çağrı Sade evaluates:
- Chest width and ribcage structure
- Existing breast tissue and skin quality
- Degree of sagging, if any
- Desired fullness in the upper pole
- The patient’s lifestyle and expectations
Using this information, the appropriate shape, surface, profile, and size are chosen. For some patients, round implants with moderate projection are ideal; for others, a drop-shaped, cohesive gel implant gives the most natural and elegant result.
The goal is not just “bigger breasts,” but breasts that look and feel natural, fit the body, and age gracefully over time. With careful planning at Dr. Cagri Sade’s clinic, implant choice becomes a precise tool to achieve balanced, personalized breast aesthetics.
